My Own Matcha Moment

An all-in-one matcha set featuring a chawan (tea bowl), chashaku (bamboo scoop), chasen (bamboo whisk), and natsume (tea caddy).

Simply open the box, and you can begin your own matcha moment — no special preparation required.

A handcrafted wooden box and tea bowl, gently finished with the refined craftsmanship of Echizen artisans.

The wooden box is crafted using traditional Echizen lacquerware techniques from Fukui, with Echizen washi lining the interior to gently protect each utensil.

The chawan (tea bowl) is a specially fired piece of Echizen ware, distinguished by its soft texture that fits naturally in your hands.

Three gentle colors that blend beautifully into any interior.

Available in three gentle colors — pink, green, and white — the wooden box blends softly into any living or dining space The chawan (tea bowl) also comes in the same three hues, allowing you to create your own IPPUKUBOX combination — a matcha set that feels truly personal.

Let’s whisk matcha

1. Add the matcha

Place about two heaping scoops of matcha into a pre-warmed tea bowl. If you sift the matcha beforehand, it will dissolve more smoothly and result in a softer, creamier texture.

2. Pour hot water

Gently pour hot water at around 70–80°C (158–176°F) into the tea bowl. To reach the ideal temperature, transfer the boiled water to another vessel first before pouring it in.

3. Whisk the matcha

Begin by gently blending the matcha and hot water with the chasen to let them harmonize. Then, keeping the whisk just above the bottom of the bowl, move it quickly back and forth in a rhythmic motion — drawing small “M” shapes with your hand until the surface becomes lightly frothy.

4. Finish and smooth the surface

When the froth becomes fine and creamy, gently lift the chasen slightly and smooth the surface with light circular motions. To finish, draw a small spiral — like the shape of “no” — to gather the delicate foam at the center. Your matcha is ready.
